The project involved redesigning the Tranvía de Murcia app from version 1.5 to version 2.0, introducing new features and enhancements to improve the user experience. This was a concept design, so not all features or designs were implemented.

As the designer of the Tranvía de Murcia app mockup, my role was to conceptualize and create high-fidelity mockups that visually represent the updated app’s functionality and design aesthetics. The mockup serves as a visual guide for the development team and stakeholders, showcasing the app's new interface and user experience improvements.

Design Changes and Rationale

  • Updated User Interface:

    • Before: The old version of the app had a basic and somewhat dated user interface.

    • After: The new design introduces a modern, sleek interface with a consistent color scheme and more intuitive navigation.

    • Impact: The updated UI improves the overall user experience by making the app visually appealing and easier to use.

  • Improved Navigation:

    • Before: The navigation was limited and not very intuitive.

    • After: The new design includes a sidebar menu with clear icons and labels for different sections like home, line scheme, map, route, favorite stops, tickets, and notifications.

    • Impact: This change makes it easier for users to find and access different features of the app quickly.

  • Real-Time Updates and Notifications:

    • Before: The old app lacked detailed real-time updates and notifications.

    • After: The new design incorporates real-time updates and notifications about tram schedules, delays, and other important information.

    • Impact: Users can stay informed about their transit options and any changes, enhancing their overall transit experience.

  • Enhanced Map and Route Information:

    • Before: The map and route information were basic and not interactive.

    • After: The new design provides detailed, interactive maps and route information, allowing users to see their current location, nearby stops, and estimated arrival times.

    • Impact: This feature helps users plan their journeys more effectively and provides a clearer understanding of their transit options.

  • Accessibility Features:

    • Before: The old app had limited accessibility features.

    • After: The new design includes features like voice instructions, high-contrast modes, and customizable text sizes to cater to users with different needs.

    • Impact: These enhancements make the app more inclusive and user-friendly for people with disabilities.
